More Fall Fun...

Last weekend was very busy, and cold. We tried to do a bunch of fall activities even though the weather didn't cooperate. It was the last weekend for the fair and the apple festival, so we did both!
Saturday we went to the fair. We knew it was going to be cold ~ the high was supposed to be 53, but every time we checked the forecast, the high got colder and colder, and by the time Friday night came around, the high for Saturday was 48! And then Saturday morning came and it was raining...so we went to the fair when it was in the mid 40s and raining. Definitely not the kind of fair weather we are used to being from So Cal, but Ella was looking forward to it, and we were supposed to go with my parents & Scott's parents and meet some friends there, so we braved the weather anyway! Scott's parents were smart and stayed home instead of coming out in the miserable weather, but it's amazing to me that little kids don't notice the cold and rain if there are things like sugar and rides involved!
My dad worked the Vietnam Veterans both for a while on Saturday, which happened to be in the barn where the petting zoo was, so that's where our first stop was. Ella loves feeding the animals.

I only took one picture of Ella on a ride. My hands were frozen and I was trying to keep them warm!

When they started getting ready for the fair and put the Sky Tram up, Ella drove by with my parents one day and saw the "purple ride". None of us were sure what the purple ride was, but she wanted to go on it. Once we got to the fair, we found out it was the Sky Tram, but she decided she wanted the "pink ride" instead. She convinced Papa Lou to go on it with her because no one else would go!
A family picture - not sure if you can tell we are FREEZING!!!

My dad knew the people working the blacksmith demonstration, so Ella got a horseshoe!

On Sunday we went up to Ellijay to the Apple Festival. We went last year and that's where Scott won Ella's goldfish that she still has (over a year later!) It was pretty cold (in the 50s), but at least it wasn't raining. Tim, Cathy, Stacey, Brian, Brooke, Erin, Ella & I went. Scott couldn't go because of football and my mom ended up sick so my parents didn't go.
All of the girls tried to win goldfish this year and none of them succeeded because of the wind, but the nice man working the booth gave them all fish anyway. So now we have two goldfish. Ella has named them Fishy (last year's) and French Fry (this year's).
As we were leaving Ellijay we stopped at one of the orchards and bought apples and some apple goodies. I think it would be fun to go pick apples at the orchards with the family next year. I guess we'll see what happens.
The girls went on a pony (or donkey) ride. Brooke had the tallest one and looked terrified the entire time!

They also went on a little train ride that went around the festival grounds. I am not sure why they all huddled together in one seat. They may have been trying to keep warm.

Last but not least, Monday was dress-up day for Ella's gymnastics class, and everyone was supposed to wear their costume. As you can tell, Ella is going to be Minnie Mouse this year.
It's hard to get five 3-year-olds to stand still for a picture!
